These are workable looping GIFs that are portions of what I hope will be a more complete GIF. This poor Chrome-face robot officer from THX1138 is having problems dancing with the wall.
Due to a slight adjustment of the camera angle during filming, Chrome-face’s feet aren’t fully visible at the beginning of the shot, but they are visible at the end. Looping the full set of frames emphasizes the camera shift at the jump. Gonna see if good old photoshop can help fix that without any messy visual artifacts. That’s the goal for the final GIF.
Here’s the challenge — the variation in the camera tilt between the start and the end of the sequence.
More to come.
This image will be used as a mask to provide a constant frame of reference, with vertical adjustments within the mask to minimize the perception that the image tilt exists. I’m concerned about introducing non-existing movements of the background in fiddling with the frame alignment — but I’m going to try… Worst case scenario, I’ll post the full sequence as-is with the visible tilt/jump in place. But first, I’m hoping to be able to resolve it.
Again, more to follow.
I wonder if you can’t crop, rotate and adjust the two. I love the GIFs as separate, but marrying them would be awesome. I am intrigued to see how you solve this, please share! Your GIFs are very rad.
The two GIFs are actually each a short part of the longer sequence. I have had it running from start to finish since last night (an even better story than the two GIFs individually portray, as Officer Chrome Face “tips his hat” after bumping into the wall as if to say, “Pardon me, ma’am”), but I would like to see a continuous horizon/floor line to maintain a smoother cycle with a minimized jump.
I may have to “create” or clone in some feet for the first part where the camera is tilted upwards and they are hidden — I like the bent toe of the shoe at the end too much to sacrifice the feet in a compromise. Worst case I’ll post it with the shifting baseline and the visible jump. But I’d rather try to get rid of that.
