“He Ran. I Trudge”
\nby aforgrave. \u00a0April 3rd, 2011.<\/p>\n

I used to play in the forest.
\nI used to run on the green.
\nBut now I work in the office.
\nAnd fritter the hours between.<\/p>\n

I used to play in the sunshine.
\nI used to run in the rain.
\nNow, I don’t like when it pours down.
\nAnd I don’t want that sunburn again.<\/p>\n

I used to run freely in circles.
\nI ‘d roll down the hillsides all day.
\nBut now, I stay on the pathways.
\nI’ve learned that it’s not good to stray.<\/p>\n

My learning has made me a grown-up.
\nI do all things proper and right.
\nI never play games or tell stories.
\nAnd I early-to-bed every night.<\/p>\n

Oh, how I long for my childhood.
\nOf the innocent life of a kid.
\nI wish I could wrangle the clock back.
\nAnd just live my life as I did.<\/p>\n
