New Directors join the ECOO Board
ECOO is pleased to welcome two new mid-term appointees to the ECOO Board of Directors. Following a Call for Nominations that closed on March 5th, 2021, the ECOO board reviewed the nominees and confirmed the appointments to two vacant Director-at-Large positions. The Board welcomes Klara Redford of Peel DSB and Valentina Krasteva of Toronto DSB.
Klara has been a teacher for over 15 years at the Peel DSB and has spent the majority of that time in the early years classroom, and now, as a teacher-librarian supports students and staff across all grades. Klara looks forward to championing a new #EarlyYears initiative for ECOO. She and Michelle McKay co-presented The AMAZING Kindy Makers at #vBIT21 Bring IT, Together! in February, and are now co-leading a 4-session series as part of the ECOO Support Series – Spring 2021 entitled #ECOOearlyYears: Building a Maker Mindset in the Early Years Learning Environment.
Valentina has been a Computer Science and Technology Teacher since 1998 and an Assistant Curriculum Leader since 2012. She is currently Assistant Curriculum Leader of Computer Science and Technology Department at William Lyon Mackenzie CI in the Toronto DSB. Valentina and a team of students from the Mackenzie Collegiate Programming Team ran the online 2020 ECOO Programming Contest, and will again be convening the event this year. The 2021 ECOO Programming Contest is open to all secondary students in Ontario and will take place on May 1st from 11 am to 2 pm.
The ECOO board looks forward to working with Klara and Valentina as the #ECOOearlyYears initiative and the #ECOO_ProgrammingContest unfold this spring. Our new directors can be contacted at kredford@aforgrave.ca and vkrasteva@aforgrave.ca.
